Instructions to make Dal dhokli:
- In a bowl add in wheat flour, oil, salt, turmeric powder, asafoetida, red chili powder, coriander powder, and water and knead a dough of thepla. The dough should be of thepla type..
- Give this dough rest for 15 minutes. Take a dough place on clean surface and make a round shape flat bread with the help of rolling pin and then cook it on tawa and then cut the dough in to square pieces repeat again same for the remaining dough.
- Take toor dal and wash it properly for 3 to 4 times and rinse it. Now in a pressure cooker,take the toor dal, tomato, green chilli,peanuts, curry leaves,ginger and water and close the cooker and place it on the flame until it gets 3 whistles then turn off the gas..
- Then take the toor dal and whisk or mash it in smooth consistency..
- Turn on the flame and put large frying pan on it and add oil, cinnamon stick, bay leaf, red chilli dry, cloves, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder for tempering..
- Now add dal to the tempering mixture. And pour 1 and 1/2 cup of water and mix well adjusting consistency as required. Then add sugar and lemon and salt as per taste and stir well till dal comes to boil..
- Once the dal comes to boil drop in dhokla pieces and cover the pan with li for 10 to 15 minutes or until dhooli is completely cooked. Finally add it and turn off the flame.
