- {Get of finely chopped spinach.

Steps to make Tangy spinach dal:
- Wash and soak dal.for 30min. Then add to pressure cooker and add chopped and washed spinach, add some salt and 2.5 times water. Cook till 3 whistle and let it cool down. Meanwhile prepare for tadka with garlic, onions and tomatoes..
- Heat 1tbsp oil and 1 and half tbsp or ghee / clarified butter and add cumin and asfoitida. Add chopped onion and cook on medium to high heat. Then add garlic and saute for 2 min. Then add tomato and add salt for tomato, turn the heat high and cook for 2-3min or till oil separates, then add 1/2tbsp red chilli powder, cumin and coriander powder, turmeric and garam masala. Roast for a min and then add half tbsp ghee now. Mix and saute for a while. Or till oil separates. Then add dal and mix well..
- While dal is simmering, prepare tadka for it. Heat oil in tadka pan, add spoonful of chopped onion and half spoon of garlic paste, then add remaining red chilli powder and pinch of garam masala and splittedgreen chilli. On medium to high heat rost for a min. Then add to simmering dal and mix well..
- Now, serve hot, tangy and spicy dal with jeera rice, buttermilk and papad. (Here adding tomatoes gives a nice tangy flavor to dal.).
- NOTE- You can use mixed dal as 1/2cup Toor dal, 2-3tbsp mung dal and 1tbsp of masur dal. And that coked mixture of dal goes well with naan and paratha..
