Instructions to make Dal Palak:

  1. Soak daal for 15-20 minutes, and then cook it in a cooker.(3-4 whistles).
  2. Wash the green spinach clean and chop them finely..
  3. Heat oil in a wok/kadai. Add cumin seeds, and let it splutter..
  4. Add chopped garlic and as the aroma emanates, add chopped onions to it..
  5. Add ginger garlic paste to onions once the onions are translucent..
  6. Add chopped tomatoes after the raw smell of ginger garlic paste is gone..
  7. Cook till the tomatoes are mushy. Now, add the chopped spinach and cook for 2-3 minutes..
  8. Add turmeric powder and chilli powder. Add some salt. Mix well and cook for another 2 minutes..
  9. Now, add the boiled daal to this. Add the ground masala powder to it. Cook till the mixture boils. add some more salt if needed. Dal Paalak is ready..
