  1. Rinse Basmati rice with water thoroughly. Soak the rice for 10 - 15 minutes. Now boil the rice until completely cooked. Strain and keep it aside..

  3. Now put all the three lentils into a pressure cooker. Put 2 cups water, 1 tspn Turmeric Powder and Salt to taste..
  4. Pressure Cook the lentils for 3- 4 whistles on medium flame. Turn off the flame and let the cooker depressurize naturally and then open the lid..
  5. In a kadhai heat 1 tbspn ghee. Add finely chopped onions and saute until translucent..
  6. Add finely chopped garlic, ginger and green chillies. Saute well..
  7. Now add whole Kashmiri red Chilli and finely chopped tomatoes. Mix well. Add salt to taste and saute until tomatoes get soft and mushy..
  8. Add the dry spices. Turmeric and Coriander powder. Red Chilli Powder, Garam Masala and Amchur Powder..
  9. Mix well. Add the cooked dal. And give it a good mix. Add around ½ cup water and further cook for 2minutes..
  10. Add cooked Basmati rice and mix everything well. Check for salt and add if necessary. Cook for another minute. Turn off the flame..
  11. Place a leave charcoal and add 1 tspn butter. Cover it with a lid and smoke for 3 to 4 minutes..
  12. Now add crushed kasuri methi and coriander leaves and mix well..
  13. Serve with papad, pickle and curd..
